How to draw DBZ

Description

These are 3 steps of my art work for DBZ. These are a few tips for people who have been asking for my help on drawing DBZ.

Step 1: You start off with simple shapes an egg shape usually works for the head. if you are only drawing head and shoulders like I have then a simple sort of triangle shape will work for the upper torso of the character. Now for the head you will need to place a centre line so that you can draw the nose eyes and mouth all equally. This way you won't have one eye higher than the other and lips that aren't level with the nose. Draw a horizontal line slightly more then half way down the head for where the eyes will be. Draw 2 more horizontal lines for the nose and mouth. now on manga characters you find the nose is always drawn quite close to the lips. draw a vertical line down the torso near the centre. Now you know where to place all the finer details.

Step 2: start to draw the details. I always start with the eyes. first draw the eyebrows on a DBZ character as this will help you place the eyes correctly. always leave a small gap in the middle.(you don't want them to have a mono-brow do you) slightly arch the eyebrows for different expressions. I have arched my character's up as he is frowning in anger. now draw the eyes underneath starting from the middle and finishing not quite at the end of the eye brow. draw the pupils where ever you want your character to look. DBZ hair is always bigger than the characters actually head so always draw their hair slightly out of the egg shape that you drew earlier as a guide. the centre vertical line will help you with the parting in Trunks's hair.draw the out line of his jacket simply to begin with. noses for the DBZ characters always seem to be simple diamond type shapes, just study mine for reference. the lips are always quite small too.

Step 3: Adding all the details. Eyes always have shine added to them, and the hair has a few extra lines added to it to give it more depth. The face has more shape. More defined jaw. Rather than be round it is more square for the males and slightly less square for the females.

I hope this has helped the people who were asking for my help. This is actually going to be a drawing. once it is completed I will be posting it. So watch this space!!
